Hot off the press! We will be displaying work by Anselm Kiefer during the art exhibition Yes Naturally. Anselm Kiefer draws connections in his work between the micro cosmos and the macro cosmos, making his work an almost indispensable part of Yes Naturally’s message.

Dead plants fertilize the soil so that the seeds of new plants can grow, thus becoming part of new life. The Secret Life of Plants suggests, among other things, that the same process keeps the universe going. Yes Naturally provides a wonderful opportunity to experience this process.

Fora & Fauna inspirational gathering

“More than seven billion bacteria live in my mouth as I speak. Isn’t it high time that we gave them the floor?” Fora & Fauna is a project by Sjaak Langenberg, had it’s kick off on November 6th. Leading up to and being part of Yes Naturally 16 biologists, philosophers and writers will embody the identities of Potter’s steer, a mosquito, spermatozoid, a vacuum cleaner, the rhinovirus and the ancient plant sort tweeblaarkanniedood via Twitter and Facebook. The writers met at the Artis Library to discuss and prepare their metamorphosis.

Tijs Goldschmidt, guest writer for the Artis Library, presented the pros and cons of human attempts to assume animal identities. Erik van Tuijn, project coordinator from the digital media department of the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag, opened up the social media biotope with impressive examples of fictional characters. You can follow Fora & Fauna now via Twitter and Facebook where you can also see a photo report of the Artis gathering. See how Vrouwkje Tuinman impersonating a slug twittering: I laid 500 eggs this morning. Now you all can get back to your topic #aging population.

An interview with Donna Haraway, a smoke box, oysters from the Belgian Oosterschelde River and the German Consulate: just a few ingredients from the official kick off of Yes Naturally during dOCUMENTA in Kassel, Germany. More than 200 guests attended the presentation of Yes Naturally to the international press and relations. Zeger Reyers and Harold de Bree set up their cross species food experiment, Poor Men’s Luxuries, in the middle of the Treppenstrasse.

Guests and passersby were treated to fish prepared in a giant smoke box. Speeches were made by Bernd Scholtz, Chief Press and Cultural Affairs Officer of the German Consulate, Benno Tempel, Ine Gevers and artist Ton Matton. Click here to our Facebook page for extensive photo coverage.

Ministry sees Yes Naturally as a Green Deal

Yes Naturally was awarded with the Green Deal on October 11th by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation. The Ministry uses this label to promote sustainability initiatives. The Ministry supports and facilitates Green Deals by making it easier to get permits or by bringing interesting people together. Green Deals ensure greater economic growth, jobs and income in combination with sustainability. Yes Naturally doesn’t really like labels, but we’re proud with this recognition!

Where would you want to grow if you were garden cress?

  • tuinkers

The Yes Naturally promo team asked more than 1,000 people this question during the Haagse Museumnacht. Ask yourself, why is garden cress always grown in a little pot? Why not on a bicycle, or undercover in the grass or in a cosy drainpipe? Check out the film.

Yes Naturally we’re ambassadors for Stroom’s Honing Bank

  • Honingbank-pakket-590px

Honeybees are central to the project Honing Bank that the French artist Olivier Darné and the collective Parti Poétique (the ‘Poetic Party’) are developing with the art and architecture centre Stroom Den Haag. The Honing Bank gives everyone a chance to do something very direct and simple for honeybees, the environment and a green, liveable city. Honeybees play a crucial role in our ecosystem as the pollinator of flowers, trees and plants.

At the Honing Bank you can open a Bee Savings Account where your money is invested in bees, honey and support for beekeepers. Click here for more information and for membership in the Honing Bank. Commissioned by Stroom Den Haag, Olivier Darné is developing a Queen Bank (located in the backyard of Stroom), and next year the Pollinator Room (to be located in Spui Den Haag), both to be presented during Yes Naturally.
